Healthy Nutrition Choices

The buzz word for the 20th century, diet, gradually gave way to the 21st century term healthy lifestyles. Aside from promotion by numerous articles, advertizing, and  health professionals, people continue to make poor food choices. Why?

Think about how you eat. Do you grab something on the run to chase hunger pangs? Do you allow your children to wear you down, thus buying less nutritious cereals, snacks, and other foods because the great people on TV said so? Do your kids turn up their noses at veggies?

What’s a parent to do? It’s not easy being a mom or dad, even without the competition from TV, grocery aisles laden with less desirable food choices at arms length of little hands, and children's friends who, of course, “get to eat what they want.”

No doubt about it. Salty, fatty, sugary foods appeal. So appealing that who can eat just one chip or take one taste of a gooey brownie? One bite begs for more. It’s your taste-buds' fault.

But, hey, there’s hope. It takes some knowledge, a little effort, and lots of courage. Take control. You can do it.

Get a little help from your friend--that is--your best friend Jesus. Knowledge and effort may be your responsibility, but Jesus can help with that courage thing.

If food selection is a problem in your household, then help is here on this site. Then get down and pray that God will give you the courage to hang in there. Never ask God for that kind of help before? Well, maybe it’s time. He wants to hear from you.
